What the Outlook connector can't do (and what to verify)
- No attachments on write. Write tools don't support attachments, so Claude can't send, forward, or draft emails with attachments.
- Sent email is labeled. Messages Claude sends include an attribution header identifying them as agent-initiated — useful for transparency, worth knowing before you send client email.
- Read-only until you say otherwise. If write tools aren't enabled, the connector only reads. Enable them deliberately.
- Claude can still be wrong. Access to your real mailbox doesn't guarantee a correct reading — review summaries and drafts before acting.
- Scoped and revocable. Access stays within your Microsoft 365 permissions, and you can disconnect anytime in Customize → Connectors.
Troubleshooting: Claude Outlook connector not working
- Looking for "Outlook" specifically. It's the Microsoft 365 connector — connect that, not a standalone Outlook entry.
- Write actions failing. Enable write tools for the connector; without them it's read-only.
- Admin hasn't enabled it. On Team/Enterprise, an Owner must enable connectors at the org level first.
- Authentication expired. Remove and re-add the connector and sign in with Microsoft again.
- Wrong account / missing permission. Confirm you signed in with the Microsoft account that has the mailbox, and that you have access to what you're asking for.
