Grok Bot gives you a small team of always-on AI agents that learn routines by watching you and coordinate in group chats. Claude Cowork gives you delegated tasks and schedules that run in the cloud, with you approving what happens. Grok Bot is the more ambitious of the two: several Bots, each with a job, working on websites the way a person would. Claude is the more predictable: one clear task at a time, on a schedule you set, at a lower and simpler price.

Checked against xAI's Grok Bot announcement and Anthropic's help center on October 19, 2026. Grok Bot is in early beta.

TL;DR

  • Grok Bot (xAI, now SpaceXAI) has been in beta since August 11, 2026. It runs multiple Bots on a shared cloud computer, with routines learned from a demonstration and group chats between Bots. It's included with SuperGrok and Cursor plans, but Bot usage is billed separately.
  • Claude Cowork is built into Claude on Pro and Max. You describe the outcome, it runs in a cloud session, and scheduled tasks run hourly, daily, or weekly. Approval is manual by default. It starts at $20 a month.
  • Grok Bot wins on multi-agent teamwork and on operating websites with no integration.
  • Claude wins on clear pricing, approval controls, and transparency about what ran.

What Grok Bot does differently

A team, not an assistant

With Grok Bot you create several Bots, each with a defined job. xAI's examples include outbound sales, talent scouting, paid media, expense management, and bug reproduction. Bots can message each other, pass work along, and share context in a group chat, with a "Chief of Staff" Bot coordinating specialists. You only step in for judgment calls. Team Bots, added September 28, 2026, let a whole team share Bots across Slack and connected apps.

Learning by watching

Instead of writing instructions, you show a Bot how to do a task. It saves the steps as a routine, folds in your corrections, and runs it later on its own. For people who find it hard to explain a process in writing, that's a real advantage.

Using websites the way a person does

Bots sign into your apps and work through their screens. That means they can handle vendor portals, old internal tools, and sites with no API or integration. It's flexible, but it's also slower and more fragile than a direct integration. A redesigned web page can break a routine.

The trade-offs

Grok Bot is early. You can't choose the AI model, xAI hasn't published usage limits or benchmarks, and all your Bots share one cloud computer, so xAI's own documentation says not to treat separate Bots as a security boundary. Bot usage is billed on top of your plan.

What Claude Cowork does differently

Claude treats delegation as a series of clear tasks. You describe the outcome, for example "pull last month's sales from the spreadsheet, compare it to the month before, and write a one-page summary with a chart," and Claude plans and finishes it in an isolated cloud session. Here's the full overview of Cowork.

For recurring work, scheduled tasks run hourly, daily, weekly, on weekdays, or on demand. Each run uses your connectors, skills, and saved files, and becomes its own session you can open and review. They run in the cloud even when your computer is asleep. A task that needs local files waits for the desktop app.

The control is the point: approval is Manual by default, so Claude asks before acting. You can switch to Auto, which adds automated safety review, or Skip. Claude asks for explicit permission before permanently deleting files.

Where Grok Bot is better

  • Several jobs that hand off to each other, like a lead found by one Bot and followed up by another.
  • Workflows that are easier to show than explain.
  • Websites with no integrations, like supplier portals and older internal tools.
  • You already pay for Cursor or SuperGrok, so access is already in your plan. Only usage is extra.

Where Claude Cowork is better

  • Simple, predictable pricing. Pro is $20 a month and covers Cowork, with no separate agent bill. Claude pricing details.
  • Control over actions. Approve each step, or turn on Auto with safety review.
  • Transparency. You pick the model, and every run is a session you can review.
  • Finished documents. Claude is strong at producing reports, spreadsheets, and decks from your files.
  • Maturity. Cowork has been generally available on paid plans since April 2026. Grok Bot is in early beta.

What to verify with either one

  • Mistakes compound. An agent repeating a wrong step every day does more damage than one bad chat answer. Review the first several runs closely.
  • Limit access. Give each Bot or task only the apps it needs. With Grok Bot's shared computer, that matters even more.
  • Track the bill. Grok Bot usage is separate from your plan, and long Claude tasks use more of your limit. Check usage after the first week.
  • Expect change. Both products are moving quickly. Recheck features before you build a process around them.

The verdict

Pick Grok Bot if you want several AI agents splitting up work, need to automate websites with no integrations, and already pay for Cursor or SuperGrok.

Pick Claude Cowork if you want a clear price, approval over what happens, and recurring tasks you can review. It's the easier place to learn delegation before you scale up.

Frequently asked questions

What is Grok Bot?

Grok Bot is xAI's always-on AI agent product, in early beta since August 11, 2026. You create Bots with specific jobs, and they sign into your apps and websites, work on a shared cloud computer while your laptop is closed, learn routines from a demonstration, and coordinate with each other in group chats.

Is there a Claude version of Grok Bot?

The closest equivalent is Claude Cowork, now built into Claude on Pro and Max. It runs multi-step tasks in cloud sessions and supports scheduled tasks that run hourly, daily, or weekly. It doesn't offer multiple agents that talk to each other, but it covers most single-job delegation.

How much does Grok Bot cost compared with Claude?

Grok Bot access is included with SuperGrok tiers and Cursor Pro, Pro+, Ultra, and Teams plans, but Bot usage is billed separately from those plans. Claude Cowork is included with every paid Claude plan, starting with Pro at $20 a month, with no separate agent fee.

Can Grok Bot and Claude work while my computer is off?

Yes. Grok Bots run on a cloud computer, and Claude runs tasks and scheduled tasks in cloud sessions on Anthropic's servers. Claude tasks that need files or apps on your own computer only run while the Claude desktop app is open.

Is Grok Bot or Claude Cowork better for a small business?

For most small businesses starting out, Claude Cowork is the easier first step because of the lower, predictable price and approval-by-default controls. Grok Bot makes more sense once you have several distinct jobs to hand off, or you need to automate websites that have no integration.
