1.1 Introduction
Time: ~15 minutes
What You'll Learn
- Why most professional writing fails (and it's not grammar)
- The three problems behind almost every bad email, report, and proposal
- How this course is structured and what to expect
- How the interactive format works with Claude
Key Concepts
Most professional writing fails for three reasons:
- No clear structure -- The reader has to hunt for the point
- Wrong tone for the audience -- Written for yourself instead of the reader
- Too many words -- Saying in 500 words what could be said in 150
These aren't writing talent problems. They're habits -- and habits can be fixed. This course fixes them through practice, not theory.
How This Course Works
This isn't a passive course. You won't read about writing and then try to remember it later. Instead:
- Claude introduces a concept
- You immediately practice it with real examples
- Claude gives you feedback
- You refine and move on
By the end of Module 1, you'll have the instincts to spot and fix bad writing -- yours and others'. Module 2 then teaches you to use AI as an editing partner to do it faster.
