What is an llms.txt file?
llms.txt is a proposed Markdown convention for giving AI systems concise website context and links to useful resources. It is not an access-control mechanism, and publishing one does not guarantee AI citations or search rankings.
How to publish your llms.txt file
Download the file, review every description and link, then upload it to the public root of your website so it is available at /llms.txt. Prefer links to clean Markdown versions where your site provides them. Update it when your important resources change.
Format reference: the llms.txt proposal.
How to generate an llms.txt file
- Enter your website name, its public URL and a short factual description.
- Add one important page per line using Title | URL | Description. Relative links resolve against your website URL.
- Generate the Markdown, review its links, download llms.txt and publish it in your website root.

Frequently asked questions
Does llms.txt replace robots.txt or a sitemap?
No. Keep robots.txt for crawler directives and your XML sitemap for URL discovery. llms.txt provides a curated content guide. It cannot force a crawler to obey instructions or include your site in answers.
Is this tool free and private?
Yes. Your entries are processed in this browser, without an AI API call or account. Copy or download your result before leaving; the tool does not save your inputs.
Does this tool crawl my website?
No. It formats only the information and links you enter. You choose the important pages, and should open each link yourself before publishing. It does not check whether a destination exists or is accessible to crawlers.
