Script prompt
Paste this into Claude or ChatGPT to turn the outline into a finished script you can read on camera, with three extra hooks and a caption.
How to write a great TikTok script
- Start with the hook, not hello. The first line should be the most interesting thing you say. Skip your name and “in this video.” Viewers decide in a second or two.
- One video, one idea. A 30-second video has room for about 75 words. That’s one tip done well, or two or three short steps, not a full lesson.
- Change something every few seconds. A new angle, a close-up, B-roll or a bit of on-screen text keeps people watching. The shot ideas in the script are there to remind you.
- Write for the sound off. Put the key words on screen and turn on captions. Keep text short and away from the right side and the bottom, where TikTok’s buttons and caption sit.
- Pay off the hook. If the hook asks a question, answer it. If it promises a result, show it. Viewers who feel tricked scroll away and don’t come back.
- End with one clear ask. Follow, comment, save or share: choose one. Make it specific, like “Save this for your next grocery run.”
- Read it out loud with a timer. If it runs long, cut the setup before you cut the points.

Frequently asked questions
How many words is a TikTok script?
At a natural speaking pace, about 35 to 40 words for 15 seconds, 70 to 80 for 30 seconds, 140 to 160 for 60 seconds, and around 450 for 3 minutes. Fast talkers can fit a little more. This tool shows a word budget for every part of the script so you can see where you’re running long.
How long should a TikTok video be?
As long as it needs to be and no longer. TikTok accepts videos up to 10 minutes, but a quick tip often works best at 15 to 30 seconds, while a tutorial or story can earn a minute or more. If people drop off before the end, the script is probably longer than the idea. Try cutting the setup first.
What makes a good TikTok hook?
It lands in the first second or two, with no intro. Good hooks ask a question your viewer is already asking, call out a common mistake, show the result first, or make a bold claim you then back up. Say it straight to camera and put a short version on screen, since many people scroll with the sound off.
Should I read my TikTok script word for word?
Not usually. Most creators sound more natural working from the beats: know your hook word for word, then talk through each point in your own words. If you do read it, a teleprompter app keeps your eyes near the lens. Either way, record the hook several times and keep the best take.
Does this TikTok script generator use AI?
No. The script is built in your browser from fixed templates, so it’s instant and nothing you type is sent or saved. To turn the outline into a polished, word-for-word script, copy the prompt on this page into Claude or ChatGPT.
