What a Claude connector is
A connector links Claude to another app, so it can look things up there and, for many apps, take actions for you. Without one, Claude only knows what you paste into the conversation. With one, you can ask “which invoices are overdue?” and Claude checks QuickBooks, or “what did Sarah say about the deadline?” and it searches your email.
Connectors are built on an open standard called MCP (Model Context Protocol), which is why there are so many of them: most are built and run by the app makers themselves, not by Anthropic. You don’t need to understand MCP to use them. If you’re curious, our plain-English MCP explainer covers it.

Apps that come through another connector
Some of the most-searched apps don’t have a connector with their own name because they’re covered by a bigger one. Search for any of these in the checker and it will point you to the right connector.
- Outlook: Outlook mail and calendar come through the Microsoft 365 connector. It needs a work or school Microsoft account and a Microsoft admin’s approval.
- Microsoft Teams: Teams chats, channels, and meeting summaries come through the Microsoft 365 connector.
- OneDrive: OneDrive files come through the Microsoft 365 connector.
- SharePoint: SharePoint sites and documents come through the Microsoft 365 connector.
- Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files: Office files stored in OneDrive or SharePoint come through the Microsoft 365 connector. Claude can also create Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files directly, and Anthropic offers Claude add-ins for Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Google Docs: Google Docs are read through the Google Drive connector, which also reads Sheets, Slides, and PDFs.
- Google Sheets: Google Sheets are read through the Google Drive connector.
- Google Slides: Google Slides are read through the Google Drive connector.
- Jira: Jira is part of the Atlassian connector.
- Confluence: Confluence is part of the Atlassian connector.
- GitHub: GitHub has its own Claude integration rather than a directory connector. Claude Code also works directly with your GitHub repositories.
Popular apps without a connector (yet)
As of October 9, 2026, these apps had no connector in Claude’s directory: ADP, Acuity Scheduling, Buildertrend, Clio, Discord, Etsy, Evernote, Facebook, Freshdesk, GoHighLevel, Gong, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Housecall Pro, Instagram, LinkedIn, Mindbody, Procore, Rippling, ServiceTitan, Squarespace, Toast, Typeform, Wave, WhatsApp, Workday, YouTube, Zendesk, Zillow. That can change quickly, so search the checker or the directory before you decide. If yours is on the list, here’s what you can do:
- Use the Zapier connector. Zapier connects to thousands of apps, and its Claude connector lets Claude trigger actions in them through your Zapier account. It’s the quickest way to reach an app with no connector of its own.
- Ask the app’s company about MCP. Many software companies now offer an MCP server even before they’re listed in Claude’s directory. If they give you a server URL, you can add it in Claude as a custom connector under Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector. Free accounts can add one; paid plans can add as many as they need.
- Export and upload. For one-off analysis, export a report or spreadsheet from the app and upload it to Claude. It’s not live, but it often answers the question.
How to add a connector
- In claude.ai or the Claude desktop app, go to Customize → Connectors and select Discover.
- Search for the app, open its page, and select Connect to Claude.
- Sign in to the app and approve the access Claude asks for.
- In a conversation, select + → Connectors and make sure the connector is switched on.
- Open the connector’s Tool permissions and set anything that sends, deletes, or spends money to Needs approval.
On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds each connector for the organization first; you’ll see a Request button until they do. Before you connect: three checks
- Who built it? Each listing shows its maker. Connectors from the app’s own company are usually the safest choice. Anthropic notes that it doesn’t control which tools a developer makes available, so only connect developers you trust.
- What can it change? A listing’s tool count is a rough guide: a connector with dozens of tools can usually create, update, and delete things, not just read. Check the tool list on its directory page.
- What data does it reach? Claude can only see what your account in that app can see, but that may include customer or financial records. Follow your company’s rules on what can be connected.

Does Claude have a connector for my app?

What if my app doesn’t have a Claude connector?
You have three options. Use the Zapier connector, which lets Claude work with thousands of apps through Zapier. Ask the app’s company whether it offers an MCP server, which you can add as a custom connector. Or check back later, because new connectors are added to the directory regularly.
Are Claude connectors free?
Most connectors in the directory work on every Claude plan, including Free. Some have their own requirements: Anthropic lists the Gmail and Google Calendar connectors for Pro and above, and the Slack connector for Team and Enterprise. The app itself may also need its own paid plan.
How do I add a connector to Claude?
Go to Customize → Connectors in claude.ai or the desktop app, select Discover, find the app, and select Connect to Claude. Sign in to the app and approve the access. Then turn it on in a conversation from the + menu under Connectors.
Is it safe to connect my business apps to Claude?
Connectors use your own permissions in each app, and you can set each tool to Always allow, Needs approval, or Blocked. Many connectors are built by the app makers rather than Anthropic, so only connect developers you trust, keep sending and deleting on Needs approval, and check your company’s rules before connecting sensitive systems.
